Right where those childhood nostalgia lay is where Anna and Mark spent much fun for their engagement shoot. These two are best friends and soulmates who both share one of the simple joys in life — the outdoors. Thus, this explains why they are surrounded by pine trees and snowflakes and wrapped with winter coats and boots. Everything around them may be crisp and frost, but their warm embraces says otherwise. Check this one out and feel the summer warmth in the cold of winter! Brrr!
The Proposal
My best friend, and soulmate, Mark Dias, proposed to me on Dec. 30th, 2013. We were skiing at Fernie over New Year’s and he proposed in trees on the hill, as we stopped for a break. It was a breath- taking setting, and such a sweet, from the heart proposal. Seeing how nervous he was, made me fall even more in love with him. After Mark proposed, we celebrated in the warmth of the lodge with a bottle of Presecco- our favorite!
Our Engagement Shoot
Since we are an active couple, we enjoy skiing , hiking, camping and most things “outdoorsy”, it seemed only fitting that our engagement pictures should be held in an outdoor setting. We chose Fish Creek Park in Calgary by a well known restaurant called The Ranch House. Mark and I both grew up close to Fish Creek and on an early spring day with our little family, that included Mark’s eight year old son, and our dog Archie. We had our beautiful engagement photos taken by Emma at Crimson Art Photography.
It was a perfect day in a perfect setting, to relive Mark’s romantic proposal, to share our excitement of our upcoming mountain wedding . We had planned our wedding to take place in the town of Banff with the gorgeous Rocky Mountains as our backdrop.
Our wedding was set for Aug. 1, 2014, but after finding out I was pregnant, we postponed our wedding until July 10th 2015. Although a longer engagement than we intended, we will now be able to celebrate our wedding with our beautiful daughter, Sophie who was born Dec. 12, 2014! We certainly feel lucky to have our healthy daughter with us, to share in our Rocky Mountain nuptials in July, along with our family and friends. Now, we know that everything really does happen for a reason!
The Location
Fish Creek Park is a place we both grew up close to and have many memories of walks, swimming, cookouts and tobogganing in our youth.
