A Wedding Under $10,000 – Is It Possible?

by Niki - Inspired Bride Leave a Comment

These days, the numbers are pretty overwhelming; the average wedding costs around $30,000. That’s a significant amount of money/debt for a couple just starting out. So, is it possible to have a $10,000 wedding? It sure is – the trick is in knowing how to budget appropriately.

Budget Responsibly

A $10,000 budget is nothing to sneeze at. If you budget responsibly, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to have a stunning wedding. The first thing you need to do is think about the most important elements of your wedding. Is there a particular type of dress you’ve dreamed about since you were little? Do you have to have a certain venue? Think about the things you simply can’t do without, so you know where the majority of your budget will go. The rest of the things you need can be obtained cheaply.

Cut Corners

For the things that aren’t as important, cutting corners can really save significant amounts of money. For instance, if you don’t mind using your iPod or iPhone for music, you could save up to $600 by not hiring a DJ. If you can make your own fancy cupcakes rather than purchasing a wedding cake, you could save up to $1000. If you’re crafty, think about the things you can make rather than purchase, like the bride who crocheted her own beautiful wedding dress for $30.

The Venue

The venue is one of the most expensive aspects of a wedding. If there’s a way to get the venue for free, go for it. Have a fairytale wedding in a clearing in the forest. Have a sentimental wedding on the grounds of your grandparents or parents house. Have a wedding on the beach, if you’re near one. There are many different free or cheap venue ideas that can save you a ton of money!

By sticking with these tips and using your creativity, it’s entirely possible to have a wedding for $10,000 or under! Simply be strong and stick to your budget and you may surprise yourself at what’s possible.
