Tips for Purchasing Vintage Wedding Items

by Niki - Inspired Bride Leave a Comment

If you’re considering purchasing vintage items for your wedding, then you’re not alone. Vintage is definitely “in” right now, but there are some things you’ll definitely want to consider. Here are some tips that will help you out when it’s time to start purchasing vintage wedding items.

Look at the Item before Buying

There are so many different places to purchase vintage items, from flea markets to online boutiques. If at all possible, look at the item before purchasing. This will help you determine whether there is any damage or issues that will need to be taken care of before you can actually use the item. For instance, old glasses can be cracked, old linens can be yellowed, etc.

Inspect Clothing Items Outdoors

If you’re purchasing any type of vintage clothing for your wedding, especially if it’s a wedding dress, you need to take it outside to inspect it. This gives you much better light to help you spot damaged spots. You should also check any buttons, zippers or fasteners to make sure they’re in working order.

Research Cleaning Methods

Before purchasing an item, research the different ways in which it can be cleaned. Certain vintage items will need to be cleaned in very specific ways and this can get very expensive. Make sure the item can be cleaned for a relatively low price and that it’s actually worth buying.

Purchase from a Trusted Dealer

If you’re going to buy expensive vintage items (such as wedding rings, for instance), make sure you purchase from a trusted and reputable dealer. The last thing you want while planning one of the most important days of your life is to be scammed.

Using these tips, you can make sure you get a great deal on beautiful vintage items.
