Flirty and Fun — Flower Jewelry

by Bonnie Leave a Comment

It’s always fun to find a new use for flowers, isn’t it? They can be wonderful for bridal bouquets, tucked in your hair, or hanging in bunches above your buffet. How about worn as jewelry? Yes! Here’s a flirty trend that we think you’re going to love… fresh flower jewelry!

Make A DIY Statement Necklace

The pieces can be purchased from a designer, or you can venture into DIY territory and try out a few arrangements of your own. You will need:

  • a piece of felt to provide the foundation that the flowers will be attached to
  • lower adhesive or glue gun
  • blossoms
  • a ribbon or chain
  • beading pliers
  • small metal attachment rings
  • scissors

Simply attach the flowers to the felt. Use scissors to cut a hole in either side of the felt backing, and loop the ribbon through. As an alternative use a chain and attach with the metal rings. Fasten the clasp to the back of your necklace.

If you’re using fresh flowers, this project will need to be completed on the day of your ceremony — so yes, in this case, leave it until the last minute! Another option would be to use paper flowers or fake flowers for a similar effect.

Statement necklaces offer a perfect way to display large blossoms. Make sure to keep your other jewelry items minimal, so that you don’t give your outfit a cluttered look. Use big blossoms, or tiny delicate ones; choose bold colors, or stick to pastel petals. It’s up to you! Have fun with this new jewelry option. Let us know if you love this idea for wedding flowers as much as we do! Leave a comment below.
