Heidi knew she wanted everything gold on her wedding. And yes, she rocked the neutral and gold palette! Two thumbs up to Sidney Leigh Photography for capturing all the details with gold hues – the dresses, the bouquets, the favors, the table arrangements and even the perfect golden hour!
Extra Special Shots
Heidi and Kyle got married at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
So sweet of the bride to do a first look with her two little brothers!
The bride and the groom wrote letters to one another and read them back to back without seeing each other just before the ceremony.
The father-daughter dance was to “Butterfly Kisses” and there wasn’t a single dry eye in the room!
Do-It-Yourself: The Globe Guestbook
I am so picky when it comes to guestbooks, I wanted something that I wouldn’t mind having displayed in the house but also something that meant a lot to Kyle and I. My mom found this old globe and I decided to outline the continents in puffy paint. Once that dried I painted the entire sphere in black chalkboard paint. You could see the outlines of the continents because they were a little raised which gave me the perfect guideline to trace them in gold. Then our quote on the globe read “and so the adventure begins, 10.01.2016…” It was such a fun way to incorporate more of my gold and our aspiration to travel! — Heidi
The Bride’s Advice
- Compare. I originally thought I was going to rent EVERYTHING, tablecloths, chargers, dinnerware, glassware, silverware. I ended up buying those things because I could find it cheaper now I can loan them out to friends or sell them to other brides at a cheaper price!
- Ask. Between my mother and I we were able to find family and friends that had certain items we were looking for such as drink dispensers, easels for signs, vases, lights and of course skill sets which came in handy while setting up like bow tying, floral arrangements, sound for the ceremony, and just all around decorating. My family and friends really listened to my vision and helped me execute it, I can’t thank them enough!
- Pick a focal point. I knew I wanted gold for anything and everything I could find it in, but there are millions of shades of gold (who knew)! I finally found a warm gold tablecloth that I loved, I based the rest of my decor decisions around that tablecloth.
