Fun Local Food Ideas for Your Wedding Reception

by Niki - Inspired Bride Leave a Comment

If you’re having guests in from out of town, one of the best things you can do is show your guests the best of your town. This includes lots of local flair that will be memorable and exciting. Here are some great and fun local food ideas for your wedding reception.

Local Brewery

If your town has a local brewery, make sure you get some of their premium beer for your wedding. This can be poured by the bartender, or stacked in ice in attractive containers for guests to choose when they want. This is a fun way to introduce guests to some of your local culture.

Local Favorites

Show off your town by serving some local favorites! Hors d’oeuvres made from philly cheesesteak sandwiches are a perfect idea for Philadelphia weddings. Small bowls of hot seafood gumbo and French bread are a must for New Orleans weddings. By serving these fun little favorites, you can introduce your guests to some of your favorite things about the local food.

Dessert Fun

Whether it’s Mississippi mud pie or all-American apple pie, serve something that is a staple of your local community. If you’re worried about items that you feel are acquired tastes, simply provide a few alternatives to guests.

To make the occasion even more memorable for guests who are coming in from out of town, pack them a little box of samples of the food you’re serving. They can enjoy it later at their leisure, and it’s a sweet surprise.
