Wedding is a way to commemorate the start of a new family, so what better way to celebrate this than with the ones you called your only family before you finally met your significant other and create one with him. Ever since the official start of this part of their lives, which was the moment Jose decided to propose to Hilary, their families were already starting to intertwine together as one. Jose respectfully and lovingly asked for his (now) mother-in-law’s permission and opinion on how to pop the question and what ring to pick. It was a sweet and special gesture for Hilary because of their incomparable mother-and-daughter bond. Then when the moment finally arrived, he had their whole family surround them to witness the special beginning of another chapter of their lives as a couple. This translated to a wonderful wedding, which we’re honored to feature, that is elegant and family centered. It was a perfect day for this couple. Congratulations Hilary & Jose!
Photographer:
Hilary and Jose met at his cousin’s wedding on November 5, 2011, and ever since their 1st dance they have been inseparable. Jose is from Durango, Mexico, and Hilary from Santurce, Puerto Rico. Coming from two different cultures, it’s amazing how they complement each other so well. They both have the same great qualities, which makes them perfect for each other.
Bride (on his proposal):
Our Engagement Sunday, May 22, 2012. One of the happiest, and memorable days of my life. I remember Jose waking up very early that Sunday morning, looking very anxious and acting very sneaky then heading out “to do some work to his car”. Of hand, I knew something different was going on, as Luis usually does not wake up early Sunday mornings, and especially to work on a car! Then around 11:30 a.m., I realized that my mother had not called me like she would usually do, so I called her several times, and, as you would figure, no answer. By that time I was sure that something out of the normal was happening, as Luis had invited my family to come over that day for a cook out and to see our new home around 2 p.m. Luis and my mother were nowhere to be found. Then around 1:30 p.m. Luis gets home, along with my mother, acting like nothing happened. So, I did not say anything; I just left it alone, and just watching him realized he was acting very nervous and sneaky, and I even caught him once giving my mother “hand signals”. So, as the evening went by, having dinner and fun with the family, I see that Luis starts pacing around, and now my mother is giving him “Hand signals” (which it was Hilarious to see!) so he tells me, “Baby, go sit down on the couch. I have bought you your favorite desert!” and you guys know me and my weird looks! All I said was “hmmm okay…?” then as my family starts surrounding me, I see that he is walking out of the bedroom with a plate on his hand and a bowl upside down on top of the plate, then slowly he approaches me and got on one knee, and showed me what was under the bowl, and it was my beautiful Engagement ring!! And he popped the question “Would you do me the honor of marrying me?” And freaking out, shaking, balling my eyes out crying I said YES!!! And this is how this beautiful journey began. I love the fact, that he had my family there present and live this wonderful moment with me … Just like I’ve always dreamed off. And yes … because he knows how important my mother is to me, he took his “suegra” to help him choose the engagement ring. He’s amazing!
