Pine Cones and Romance

by Scarlet Leave a Comment

It was a chic and elegant winter wedding for Jeffrey and Desirae. The two got married last December so they incorporated holiday decors — pine cones, candles, and glistening Christmas trees. They also went for the classic black and white motif which is indisputably timeless. Let’s all relive and experience this wedding full of inspiration through the photos beautifully captured by Megan Love.

Album Story:

Desirae and Jeff’s wedding was held on December 12th, 2014 and was held in a beautiful lodge in SW Portland. The theme for the event was wintery elegance, and there were touches of gold, sparkle and greenery throughout the decor. Desirae and Jeff met through mutual friends/family and had such a love and commitment not only for each other but their friends and family as well. They wanted the day to be a celebration of their marriage, but also of celebrating the people in their lives. It had been raining earlier in the day, but the sun broke just in time for us to move our photos down to the waterfront in Lake Oswego and have the first look and couple photos down there.

The sun was setting in a vibrant flare just as we got there, so it made a beautiful background for the pictures. The groom’s brother is a professional pastry chef and baked their wedding cake for them, and there were pennies sprinkled throughout the wedding that was a special token from the bride’s father, in memory of him. Overall there were many personalized details expressing the couple’s love for one another but also that were important to their family, and it was a true family celebration of love and happiness during the holidays.

The Theme:

The theme was winter elegance, and there were Christmas trees throughout as well as twinkle lights, gold, a roaring fireplace and votive candles lighting up the dimmed space.

Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was when we arrived at the first look photos, and the bride and groom got to see each other and take a minute to rest in each other’s presence before the wedding day. Both had been a busy bundle of nerves, and seeing each other for the first time, as well as having the beautiful sunset behind them and the quietness of the moment was a beautiful calming presence to lead them through the rest of the day.

The Highlights From The Ceremony & Reception:

During the ceremony, there was a lot of laughter and story-telling during the vows, and pennies led the way down the aisle that was a special symbol of the bride’s father and his memory. The reception featured a surprise “family dance” busting a move during the father-daughter and mother-son dance that was so fun to watch. The reception also had kids’ music on the playlist like “Let if Go” from Frozen and a lot of Taylor Swift, since there were many kids at the wedding, and it was kid-friendly.

Most Memorable Moment:

I believe that the celebration of not only their love for each other but all of the family and friends and love in the room surrounding them was most memorable. They were also very excited to be getting married, so the joining as husband and wife were the most memorable.
