Recently I’ve started to plan my sister’s wedding and she’s on a very tight budget, but like every bride, desires the fairytale wedding she’s dreamed about since childhood. I started thinking about ways to get maximum “wow” impact for pennies, and an idea came to me. Set designers often have to work with very low budgets but create amazing and breathtaking sets. Why not turn to them for amazing inspiration? Here are some of my favorite ideas:
Flower Backdrops
Wouldn’t we all love to have a whole wall just overflowing with flowers of all kinds? In reality, that would cost a fortune and isn’t available for brides on a budget. So, like those set designers to turn ordinary items into magic elements of a story, you can create gorgeous flower backdrops at very low cost.

This is simple wax paper folded into cones and then threaded to create gorgeous hanging “flowers.”

These are simply huge flowers created from paper and glued to a backdrop to create a stunning fairytale look for very little money.

While these aren’t flowers, they do create the same effect and it’s super simple to create. It’s just folded and glued paper in a variety of pastel colors!
Indoor Tree-lined Aisles
While a wedding outside is the perfect idea for some brides, others simply can’t make it happen. Outdoor venues can often be quite expensive and there are added costs to create a backup plan in case of rain. But we can still have a gorgeous, tree-lined aisle with a feeling that you’re surrounded by nature.

Collect branches (fallen ones are perfect) from nearby wooded areas and make sure they’re cleaned up and any remaining leaves are removed. Purchase cheap planters, insulation foam and moss. You can spray paint the trees or leave them as-is. Place the trees in the planters and use the spray foam to secure them inside. Then, hot-glue moss to the top of the spray foam to conceal it. You can add small twinkle lights for maximum impact.

The same idea can be used to create beautiful cherry blossom centerpieces by using vases instead of planters, and gluing paper cherry blossoms onto the branches.
