Michelle & Jon – A Little Taste of Czech Tradition

by Niki - Inspired Bride 1 Comment

Jon and Michelle decided to tie the knot after dating for 10 years. When Jon wanted to become a deep-sea fisherman, Michelle didn’t have any second thoughts of coming along with him. Now that’s true love talking right there. And of course, Jon didn’t have any hesitations of asking Michelle to marry him to finally seal the deal.

Their wedding theme was a mixture of rustic with a Czech twist. I love the pop of orange and blue hues together with the cream-colored palette of this wedding. It blends beautifully with the lush greens of the venue and the rustic feel of the entire event.

Here is what Jon and Michelle’s Photographer Mylah Renae had to share with us about the couple’s wedding day.

Jon and Michelle chose to include several Czech traditions into their wedding.  Besides her rosemary bridal wreath (headband) and the sharing of the soup (which is like sharing of the cake), the two opted for the breaking of the plate.  Michelle’s brother threw a plate on the ground.  The number of broken pieces is supposed to represent the number of years they will spend together happily married (and there were a TON of pieces!!!).  Then, the two cleaned up the broken plate to prove that they can work well together and are willing to cooperate as a team in all of life’s challenges.

Michelle’s side of their proposal:
For my birthday every year we go to The State Fair in Dallas. So when we met up with friends and family at the foot of Big Tex this year, I didn’t even question why Jon was being interviewed by the local news reporters. He is a well-spoken, loud fan and the news reporters always seem to find him. But this time he called my name, I turned around and he was on one knee. I didn’t see the camera in my face or the people watching. I dropped the 4-foot stuffed Bevo he won me and knew my life was about to change forever. For a long time I thought I didn’t need the ring. But in that moment I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding for the last nine years. I felt whole and complete.
