If you’re the kind of bride who loves pie and a healthy dose of DIY, then Micah and Elizabeth’s wedding will give you the right amount of both! Micah and Elizabeth got married on Pi day 2015, and they decided to go along with a pie-themed wedding. Aside from all of that scrumptious looking pies they also had impressive decors that were DIYed by Elizabeth’s mother. Talk about mad skills! Looking at their wedding photos make me swoon, and daydream of my wedding. Better prepare yourself because there’s an enormous possibility that you will end up craving pies.
Album Story:
This adorable couple grew up in the same circles, knowing each other but not interested in each other. Then as they got older, mutual friends of theirs became good friends, the bride’s sister married one of the groom’s best friends, and the groom got rid of this bowl cut hairstyle! They started falling for each other and on their first date Micah told Elizabeth that he had to be honest, and he told her that he liked her! A few months later, they were engaged! What was your favorite part of the day? My favorite part of the wedding day was documenting all of the incredible DIY details that the mother of the bride had poured into the day! But one of the most joyful times of the day was the improv comedy act that they had for the reception. Hilarious act by “Slap Happy Comedy.” Everyone loved it!
Most Memorable Moment:
I would have to say one of the most memorable moments for the couple while the ceremony seemed to be the moment the parents came up on stage, surrounded and wrapped their arms around them and privately prayed prayers of blessings while special music was played.
The Theme:
Since it was a Pi Day Wedding (3-14-15) that was the theme of the reception! A pie buffet and the pi symbol was incorporated throughout!
The Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Projects:
The invitations were handmade by the bride’s mother – incorporating images from the couple’s engagement session. We hung lanterns above the altar to give a more intimate feel. The church gym was transformed into a beautiful, intimate reception hall with the use of lanterns and paper tassels strung across as a ceiling. The lanterns we purchased from dollar stores, Amazon.com, and anywhere the mother of the bride could get them for $1 a piece!
The centerpieces where rocks, mason jars, and various other elements that were all sprayed with gold spray paint! The cylinder tealight holder centerpieces were filled with gold spray painted rocks, short birch tree branches, water, and topped with a tea light! Super inexpensive but cute and modern! Also, as you entered the front doors to the church, there was a beautiful table full of photos of parents, grandparents, and relatives that had been married before them along with small artifacts (newspapers, etc.) to add to these stories.
The Highlights From The Ceremony & Reception:
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the father of the groom got up to read scripture and said that since he had the microphone, we had something he was entitled to say. He then went on to give his full blessing and approval on his son and the marriage he was entering into. It was powerful! The highlight of the reception was the improv comedy act! Everyone was in stitches for nearly an hour! They even acted out the couple’s love and engagement story on stage, and it was hilarious!
