Intimate weddings give me that awe-feeling. Swooning over how private and close everything is. Ashley and Chad’s wedding was a very personal and private one. The colors ivory, gold, pink, white, and brown complemented the kind of wedding they had. The rustic feeling brought by the venue was a fit for the wedding they wanted. The chalkboard table “cards” also gave the wedding more DIY.
Ashley and Chad are a sweet couple who work out together, spend time outdoors together, and have great taste in restaurants. They stumbled upon the Mohawk House in Sparta NJ while shopping for venues. They wanted some place intimate but with exceptional food and great atmosphere. The Mohawk House was the perfect compliment to their romantic, rustic decor which included wine bottle centerpieces with chalkboard numbers tied with twine and filled with bright, airy wild flowers.
The couple stayed at the Wooden Duck Bed and Breakfast near Mohawk Lake. Their ceremony took place at the Mohawk House in the Conservatory room filled with exposed brick and natural light, in front of a wood-burning stone fireplace. Guests just loved the outdoor space for mingling during cocktail hour and watched as we took formal portraits atop a small hill with views of the mountains and valley below.
Dinner took place in the main dining room, under eight skylights and the soft glow of 2-tiered cast-iron wheel chandeliers. The bride and groom sat in front of a towering double-sided stone fireplace. Guests enjoyed a selection of entrees including Chilean sea bass, filet mignon, and eggplant and portobello mushrooms topped with roasted red peppers and asparagus tips. Dessert included wedding cake with fresh ice cream and berries and petit s’mores in espresso mugs. The couple made small jars of honey personalized with kraft paper name tags and bamboo spoons that doubled as escort cards and favors.
