When Best Friends Marry

by Chelsea Leave a Comment

Erica and Arun chose to do a destination wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico at the Azul Fives Resort because they both lead very busy lives and really liked the idea of having a week away with family and their closest friends. They were blown away by their sky suite room. The whole top floor was their very own private rooftop patio. This couple’s vision of their wedding was perfectly executed. Hence, the dramatic photos below!

Special Wedding Details

The ceremony. It was held on the sky wedding deck which was private, luxurious and had stunning views. The weather changed for the ceremony and dark clouds made their way towards us. It sprinkled just a touch with rain and miraculously the clouds continued on their way without a tropical downpour!

Favorite part of the day. “My favourite part of our wedding day was the moment before walking down the aisle,” writes Erica. “So much emotion came over me and remembering how far I have come in my life and everything that has gone on has led me up to the exact moment. The moment I got to marry my best friend.”

The best photo. One photo that stands out to Erica is of her greeting her 92 year old Grandpa half way down the aisle where he stood up and walked down the aisle together with her father to give her away. “That was the first time my Grandfather had done this,” writes Erica.

Bonus! From the photographer’s perspective, the venue offered so many incredible photo backdrops, from the gardens, to the beach, to the sky wedding deck, to the incredible styling of different areas of the resort.  Also, with their wedding package they got several extras: beachside massages, breakfast in bed, dinner on the beach one night.

Total headcount. There were 76 guests in attendance and it meant so much to them as a couple.

The Bride’s Advice

Pick a venue that speaks to your heart and wedding style. This venue was children friendly which was very important to us and lots of nice ones are adult only. Food is so important to the guests –really look into reviews! All 76 of our guests were blown away by the food selection of the restaurants and the wedding day food. If on the beach, keep in mind every other hotel guest could be there. Ask questions, keep notes and let go, let the venue and professionals do what they do best. The day will always be perfect.

Money Matters
