Elegant Springtime Jewish I Do’s

by Chelsea Leave a Comment

Lauren ♥ Daniel

Spring is here and we absolutely adore how the flowers bloom at Lauren and Daniel’s special day! While in the midst of medical school, Lauren, the bride, planned and organized her beautiful traditional Jewish wedding. The reception kicked off with the alumni band from Ohio State University! Such an amazing entrance and fun way to begin the celebration! To Lauren and Daniel, cheers to two dreams to fulfill, two ambitions to achieve, two hearts to cherish and two lives to live to the fullest!

Details That Made This Wedding Extra Special

The highlight of the day. The ketubah signing ceremony was a very special and memorable part of the day. In the Jewish tradition, the bride and groom sign a Ketubah, or a marriage contract, with only a small gathering of loved ones surrounding them, just prior to the actual ceremony. This intimate gathering set the tone for the rest of the day.

The grand entrance. As Lauren and Daniel entered into the ballroom, The Ohio State University Alumni Band marching behind them. This was such a hit with their guests as many were Ohio State Alumni, and even more are die-hard fans. The entire room joined the band on the dance floor as everybody sang and cheered to Ohio State classics.

The fun twist. For the rehearsal dinner, they didn’t want a stuffy, formal evening. They rented out a bar in downtown Cleveland and had pizza, wings, drinks and more. Then, they all walked across the street where the couple reserved a section of seats at Progressive Field, and enjoyed watching a Cleveland Indians game together. It was a great way to start the weekend and was a fun twist on the traditional rehearsal dinner.

Thinking double duty. The florist was able to re-purpose the flowers from the chuppah to use at the head table. The lush and gorgeous flowers were relocated from the ceremony to the reception.

The best event planner. Cal Elaban made planning a wedding from out of town effortless. He accommodated the couple’s needs (including the request to bring in a marching band – that was a request he had not seen before!) and made the night seemless.

Tips From The Bride

♥ Order your dress with plenty of time for alterations. My original dress came in completely wrong and I was so happy I started dress shopping and ordered early. It took over a month to make a second dress.

♥ Let others help. I am a perfectionist and love to micromanage, but with such a big event, you have to trust others to help out. Find people you really rely on, like your mom or maid of honor to help. Also, florists, caterers, photographers etc. have been doing this for years, so trust they know what they are doing so you can relax and enjoy the day without having to micromanage.

♥ Take it all in. The day flies by so fast, and your wedding will be over before you know it. Take time to take a step back and really let it sink in how great this day is!
